This policy ("Policy") outlines how Root Node Pty Ltd ("We", "our", "us") collects, uses, and handles information when you use our phone application Sabzi or the web version on sabzi.app ("App", "Sabzi").

We value your privacy and want you to know how your data is managed. If you have any questions about this policy please send us an email. Our email can be found on the contact page. Information We Collect

Sabzi has a generic design that allows you to track and record any sort of information. That means, depending on how you use it, you might be entering personal data into the app. That is why we have designed it such that you will not have to enter any personally identifiable information for using Sabzi. We do not ask for an email address, phone number, your name, or anything else for making an account. Keeping all Sabzi accounts unidentified is in the best interest of both you as the user and us.

All of the information you enter in Sabzi (like your username, any events or activities you track, etc.) are stored in our databases in AWS. None of this information is shared with any 3rd parties. All of your data is encrypted in the transit from your device to our backend APIs. Some of the more sensitive data (like passwords, your journal entries, etc.) are encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers for storage.

In addition to the information you manually enter, Sabzi might collect information about the device you are using to access the app. We do this so we can investigate issues with the app when they happen. For example, if Sabzi crashes on your device, knowing the dimensions of the screen might help us understand the reason and fix it. This information is collected through 3rd party providers: Sentry and PostHog. To give you a better idea of the type of information collected through them, here are some common examples: browser name, device brand, device time, screen orientation, etc.

Integrations

Google Calendar

You may choose to link your Google Calendar with Sabzi, in which case Sabzi will present your calendar events inside the app. This linking is done through OAuth 2.0. We do not store any of your calendar data on our servers. The only information we store is an access token that allows us to fetch your calendar events when you open the app. If you grant Sabzi access to your Google Calendar, Sabzi will read the email address associated with the Google account, your calendar events, update the details of existing calendar events, or create new ones. Google will also allow Sabzi to see your full name, profile picture, and preferred languages. However, Sabzi does not need, read, or store any of this additional information. They are simply part of the default scopes when authenticating with a Google account. You can revoke this access at any time from your Google Account settings. You can also unlink your Google Account from inside Sabzi. Once you do that, no record of your account or its previous connection will remain on our server.

Fitbit and Garmin

You may choose to link your Fitbit and/or Garmin accounts with Sabzi, in which case Sabzi will read all activities you record through the connected platform. You can choose inside the app, which activities exactly you would like to share with Sabzi. Activities you choose to sync will be fetched from Fitbit/Garmin and their past records will be stored in our databases. Any future records of them will also be stored in our databases.
You can unlink your Fitbit/Garmin account from inside Sabzi at any time. Once you do that, Sabzi will not attempt to read any of your data anymore and your access tokens will be erased. However, the past records that are already stored will not be deleted. If you would like to delete those records, you will have to either do it manually (by deleting an entire activity) or by deleting your account.

Apple Health

You may choose to link your Apple Health account with Sabzi, in which case Sabzi will read all activities you record through Apple Health. You can choose inside the app, which activities exactly you would like to sync with Sabzi. Activities you choose to sync will be fetched from Apple Health and their past records will be stored in our databases. Any future records of them will also be stored in our databases. We only store the name of the activity, the time it happened, and its duration. You can unlink your Apple Health account from inside Sabzi at any time. Once you do that, Sabzi will not attempt to read any of your Apple Health data anymore and your access tokens will be erased. However, the past records that are already stored will not be deleted. If you would like to delete those records, you will have to either do it manually (by deleting an entire activity) or by deleting your account. When finding correlations between different variables, we don't use the name of those variables. We only use the values (i.e. the duration, the time it happened, etc.) but not whether it was a running session or a walking session, or any details of the user like their age, height, etc.

Health Connect

You may choose to link your Health Connect account with Sabzi, in which case Sabzi will read all activities you record through Health Connect. You can choose inside the app, which activities exactly you would like to sync with Sabzi. Activities you choose to sync will be fetched from Health Connect and their past records will be stored in our databases. Any future records of them will also be stored in our databases. We only store the name of the activity, the time it happened, and its duration. You can unlink your Health Connect account from inside Sabzi at any time. Once you do that, Sabzi will not attempt to read any of your Health Connect data anymore and your access tokens will be erased. However, the past records that are already stored will not be deleted. If you would like to delete those records, you will have to either do it manually (by deleting an entire activity) or by deleting your account. We use these records for showing you insights, but just like other Activities and Events you track, no identifiable information is attached to them. When finding correlations between different variables, we don't use the name of those variables. We only use the values (i.e. the duration, the time it happened, etc.) but not whether it was a running session or a walking session, or any details of the user like their age, height, etc.

Deleting Your Information

You can delete your account and all its related data by going to Settings -> Delete Account. You will need to enter your username and password again to confirm deleting the account.
